Rules that travel with you
Three Troy rules hold in every state. You recruit your own preceptor, you need an unencumbered RN license in the state where the clinical hours happen for the whole semester, and Troy does not process an out-of-state preceptor request until you show that license.
Troy's clinicals-by-state table marks each state Yes, No or Not yet determined for the online RN to BSN, MSN and DNP together, and every row carries a 2020 date, so confirm a state with the Clinical Placements Specialist before you build a search there. Troy's state authorization page is a separate list and does not settle clinicals on its own.

Questions Troy students ask
In which states can Troy offer online nursing clinicals?
Troy's disclosure, last updated in December 2020, lists Yes for Alabama and many other states, No for Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Montana and New York, and Not yet determined for many more. Because of its age, confirm your state with Troy before you apply or move.
Is Troy's clinical table a licensure determination?
No. It says whether Troy can offer clinical experiences in a state for the RN to BSN, MSN and DNP together. For licensure after graduation, check with your state's board of nursing.
Is Troy part of SARA?
Yes. Troy says it participates in SARA through SREB and lists 40 SARA states, plus its own entries for nine more: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
