Wisconsin's rule sits at N 1.06 in the state's administrative code, and its message is short: a school of nursing headquartered in another state is approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing before it operates there. The application, Form 3067-OEE from DSPS (revised April 2026), spans practical nursing through graduate study and spells out post-licensure bachelor's programs by name. Approval is not one-and-done; approved schools report back through a self-evaluation to keep it.
That form also sets a licensing condition for people. Clinical faculty and preceptors working with students in Wisconsin carry Wisconsin licensure, or a privilege to practice in the state. A new APRN license, and what it means for your paperwork
September 1, 2026 brought 2025 Wisconsin Act 17 into force. Wisconsin now licenses APRNs by role, four of them: NP, CRNA, CNS and nurse midwife. APNP holders were moved over to APRN licenses. Practicing independently, without a physician collaborator, requires its own application and a yes from the Board.
