What Troy has on record for North Dakota

- License rule: Troy acts on a North Dakota preceptor request only after you document an unencumbered RN license valid there for the full term.

The table does not rule on licensure, and Troy has not revised it. Write to the Clinical Placements Specialist and the Coordinator of State Authorizations for the present answer. How North Dakota recognizes distance programs
North Dakota treats a distance program's clinical students as the board's business. Its distance-education guidelines reach any program whose students are headed for LPN, RN or APRN licensure, so a nurse practitioner track falls inside them. An RN to BSN, whose students hold licenses already, is left out of that description.
Timing is strict. The school's recognition request must reach the board 60 days before the first student activity in the state, graduate programs owe an annual charge, and the request travels with proof of NC-SARA standing or a State Board of Higher Education authorization or exemption. The state's nursing statute then exempts students of recognized outside programs, provided the board has been told in writing and clinical space exists.
The packet behind every semester
Recognition is only the start. Each semester, ahead of any clinical day in a North Dakota facility, the guidelines expect the program to report:
- the names of the students, each with a North Dakota or multistate license on record
- which facilities and which courses the students will use
- who precepts and who teaches, with a resume and license for every one of them
- signed affiliation agreements and each facility's written confirmation of space
Troy, as the program, would own that filing. What you control is everything it depends on: a preceptor with a current license and resume on hand, a facility ready to confirm space, and Troy's agency agreements signed early. A late search can miss Troy's form deadlines and the board's window in the same stroke.
Practice rules and the North Dakota map
North Dakota sits in AANP's full-practice column. The legislature adopted the APRN Compact on March 9, 2021; like every enacting state, North Dakota is waiting for the seventh adopter before it can take effect. Multistate RN licensing has applied since January 2018.
Among hospital systems, Sanford Health keeps a medical center in each of Bismarck and Fargo; Fargo also has Essentia Health, Bismarck has CHI St. Alexius Health, and the northern cities have their own, Trinity Health for Minot and Altru Health System for Grand Forks. NP students often begin with those names, but none keeps places for Troy students.

Will North Dakota's board see my preceptor's details?
Yes. The semester report names preceptors and carries their resumes and licenses. Troy's own approval asks for a copy of the preceptor's license and a Preceptor Biosketch alongside the Preceptor Information Form, so collect those documents once and keep them current.
Does the RN to BSN face North Dakota's recognition process?
The board's description of who must seek recognition centers on programs whose students are headed for LPN, RN or APRN licensure; licensed nurses finishing a BSN are not named in it. Troy's 2020 table still gives the RN to BSN the same Not yet determined status, so confirm with Troy before recruiting.
