New Hampshire and Troy University online nursing: what is settled and what is not
New Hampshire is marked Not yet determined in Troy University's online nursing disclosure, a line Troy has not refreshed since 12/15/2020. The state's own filing rules for outside schools are aimed at prelicensure programs, so for Troy's online students, already licensed nurses, the open question sits with Troy, not with Concord.

Where New Hampshire stands on Troy's list
A single entry on that disclosure covers all three online programs, and it was never meant as a licensure finding for New Hampshire. Before any preceptor outreach, check the present position with Troy's Coordinator of State Authorizations, and tell the Clinical Placements Specialist, who handles signed agreements, what you are planning. Post-licensure programs sit outside the Board's education rules
New Hampshire's Board of Nursing is housed in OPLC, the state licensing office. On OPLC's nursing education page, programs that start from an existing RN license, with RN to BSN and RN to MSN given as examples, are placed outside the Board's regulation. Troy's online students are licensed nurses in post-licensure study, which puts them on that side of the line.
The contrast is instructive. An out-of-state prelicensure school contracting with New Hampshire facilities has real paperwork under Nur 602.15(j): notice of intent to the Board, six weeks' warning of each planned placement, a yearly petition on Form A, a Part B sheet per rotation, a signed Clinical Preceptor Agreement from every preceptor, and New Hampshire licensure for its supervising faculty. One caveat on timing: the legal text posted online carries a January 23, 2026 end date, while OPLC went on referencing the rule during January 2026, so ask whether it has since been readopted. How any of this is read today is worth confirming with Troy's state authorization coordinator.
Licenses, and the pull of Boston
Compact licensing arrived in New Hampshire in January 2018, so residents commonly hold a multistate RN license. Troy's rule asks for licensure in the clinical state, with no mention of compact privileges; your faculty advisor can confirm that a New Hampshire multistate license satisfies Troy. Southern New Hampshire sits inside the Boston metro, so some nurses there naturally look south. Massachusetts is a harder case: it is also Not yet determined on Troy's table, it is absent from Troy's authorization lists, and its compact law has not yet taken effect, which means a multistate card from New Hampshire buys nothing across that border for now. New Hampshire has not joined the APRN Compact either.
Full practice and the preceptor field
For AANP, New Hampshire is a full practice state, where a physician agreement is not a condition of NP practice. That broadens the field for a Troy FNP search, and Troy's list goes further still, taking physicians, nurse midwives and physician assistants alongside NPs who have practiced a year. Manchester-Nashua, Concord and the southern tier
New Hampshire's share of the Boston metro and the Manchester-Nashua metro are close in size, with the Concord area next. Dartmouth Health operates Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Catholic Medical Center belongs to HCA Healthcare. Concord Hospital Health System, Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health complete the list of names you will hear most. Elliot and Southern New Hampshire Health founded SolutionHealth together; a July 2025 board proposal would dissolve that partnership. Each is cited from its own website for orientation; none is described as a Troy clinical site.
Both of New Hampshire's other neighbors, Maine and Vermont, share its 2020 label.

Can I do Troy University online MSN clinicals in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire's row in Troy's disclosure has read Not yet determined ever since Troy's 12/15/2020 update, a single answer whether you study for the BSN, MSN or DNP online. That leaves the question open rather than answered. Troy's state authorization coordinator holds the current position; copy the Clinical Placements Specialist on your plans.
Does New Hampshire require Troy to file Form A and Part B?
Those filings come from the rule for out-of-state prelicensure schools. OPLC's education page treats programs built on an existing RN license, naming RN to BSN and RN to MSN, as outside Board regulation. Whether that settles things for Troy's online MSN and DNP is something Troy's Coordinator of State Authorizations can confirm.
Will a New Hampshire multistate license cover clinicals in Massachusetts?
Not at present. Massachusetts passed the compact, but its board is still implementing it and aims to finish around May 2027. Troy's 2020 table leaves Massachusetts undetermined as well, and Troy's authorization lists leave it out, so both the license and Troy's position need settling first.
Does a New Hampshire preceptor need anything from the state to take me?
For post-licensure students, New Hampshire's Board publishes no preceptor filing; the Clinical Preceptor Agreement belongs to the prelicensure rule. Troy's own steps apply instead: your faculty advisor gets the Preceptor Information Form and Biosketch along with the preceptor's license copy, faculty approve, and the School of Nursing starts the preceptor and agency agreements.
