Troy, Dothan, Montgomery and online: where Troy nursing happens
Troy University's School of Nursing teaches on three Alabama campuses and online. The Troy campus holds Jones Hall, Montgomery runs the ASN, Dothan hosts the BSN alongside Troy and the Accelerated MSN on its own, and the MSN, certificates, DNP and RN to BSN run through TROY Online with faculty spread across all three. Phenix City appears in some Troy documents and not in others.

Which program lives where
The School of Nursing, part of the College of Health Sciences, gives each program a home base. For the in-person programs Troy also says how far clinical sites sit from campus; for the online programs, clinicals follow the student.

Troy campus: Jones Hall
Jones Hall on the Troy campus is what Troy calls the heart of its nursing program, with simulation labs, classrooms and collaborative spaces. Troy Today described it in April 2025 as home to a 30-bed hospital lab and five advanced simulation rooms, shared by the School of Nursing with Social Work and Human Services and with Kinesiology and Health Promotion.
The Troy campus touches online students in two ways. The Clinical Placements Specialist, the School of Nursing role that receives signed RN to BSN agreements and is named in several rows of Troy's 2020 state table, is based there, per the School of Nursing faculty listing and both graduate manuals. DNP graduates also gather on the Troy campus for convocation, although their Final Competency Evaluation runs remotely.
BSN students based at Troy do their clinicals inside the 60-mile radius the BSN manual sets around Troy and Dothan, with specialty exceptions such as the pediatric days in Birmingham.
Montgomery: the ASN and nursing admissions
Montgomery is home to the ASN, offered in day and evening options that students cannot switch between once admitted. ASN students train in nursing labs set aside for them, both in Bartlett Hall and inside the School of Nursing's own building. For ASN clinical experiences Troy names three hospitals: Jackson Hospital, Baptist Medical Center South and Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama. The LPN to RN Bridge Pathway, built with Baptist Health, is set to open there in fall 2026.
For graduate students, Montgomery is where admissions sit. The Director of Nursing Admissions and Records is listed on this campus, and the School of Nursing's Office of Admissions there handles graduate nursing admissions and help with registration. When a registration problem blocks a clinical course, that office is the one to name in your message, alongside your faculty advisor.
Dothan: the BSN, the Accelerated MSN and Adams Hall
Dothan shares the BSN with the Troy campus and is the home of the Accelerated MSN, a direct-entry program for non-nurses that opened in August 2026 as a hybrid of face-to-face and online study over four consecutive semesters. The MSN Program Assistant Coordinator is listed for Dothan, and Troy reported a nursing simulation lab in Adams Hall on this campus in 2020.
Two Dothan details belong to the pre-licensure programs only. Selected BSN students can join the Nurse Student Apprenticeship, run with Dothan's Flowers Hospital and with Baptist Health, which stands in for some clinical rotations. Accelerated MSN students, meanwhile, find their own preceptors in two courses, NSG 5549 and NSG 6698, where the AMSN manual repeats the MSN rule that students contact preceptors. Phenix City: in some Troy documents, not others
Phenix City is the campus question Troy's own documents answer two ways. The 2026-27 DNP manual lists nursing faculty at Montgomery, Troy, Phenix City and Dothan, with admissions at all four. The 2025-26 graduate catalog says the online MSN has faculty based on the same four campuses, and its ACEN statements for the MSN, the post-master's certificate and the DNP name all four as well.
On the other side, the School of Nursing's Accreditation and Approval page, the 2026-27 MSN manual and the MSN web page list only Dothan, Montgomery and Troy, and the School of Nursing pages describe no Phenix City nursing building or simulation lab. Other campus details drift too. The DNP manual places the BSN on the Troy campus alone. In the RN to BSN manual, baccalaureate accreditation covers three campuses, Troy, Dothan and Montgomery, where the accreditation page names two, Troy and Dothan. The DNP manual also keeps the college's former name, College of Health and Human Services.
If a Troy document places your advisor or an office in Phenix City, confirm the location with your faculty advisor or program coordinator before you plan a trip.
Online students: your locale is your clinical campus
For online graduate students the place that matters most is home. The 2025-26 graduate catalog describes the MSN FNP track as online except for some mandatory on-campus requirements, which it calls limited in number, and adds: "Students complete clinical requirements in their locale." HINL students, by contrast, have no on-campus requirements. Ask your faculty advisor early about the timing of any FNP campus requirement.
Faculty are spread across the state. Troy says MSN faculty hold office hours both online and at all three campuses, RN to BSN and DNP faculty are based at the same three, and MSN advisors are assigned by track and nearest campus. Your advisor's campus is a point of contact, not a place you travel to for clinicals. Where those clinicals can happen depends on your state; our clinicals by state page shows Troy's table.
Two calendars across the campuses
Troy's Help Desk describes two calendars. Nine-week terms run five times a year at Montgomery, Dothan, TROY locations and online, and 16-week semesters, three a year, run mostly on the Troy campus. The catalog describes graduate nursing in semesters, with full-time loads of 9 semester hours in Fall and Spring and 6 in Summer, while the RN to BSN follows 9-week terms.
The calendar matters for preceptors because Troy ties key deadlines to the drop date: the MSN form deadline for NSG 6619 and the DNP deadline for every form fall on the last day to drop a course without academic penalty. Know which calendar your course follows before you agree on a preceptor's start date. The academic calendar page lists the published 2026-27 dates for both formats.

Questions Troy students ask
Where is Troy University's School of Nursing based?
The School of Nursing belongs to Troy's College of Health Sciences and teaches on the Troy, Dothan and Montgomery campuses. Its signature building is Jones Hall in Troy, the ASN is taught in Montgomery and the Accelerated MSN in Dothan. The online programs draw their faculty from all three campuses.
Do Troy's online MSN FNP students have to come to campus?
The 2025-26 graduate catalog says the FNP track carries a few mandatory on-campus requirements, and HINL none. The program pages give no dates or format for them, so raise it with your faculty advisor in your first semester, especially if you live far from Alabama and need to plan travel around clinical days.
Does Troy teach nursing in Phenix City?
Troy's sources disagree. The DNP manual and the 2025-26 graduate catalog name Phenix City as a faculty base next to Troy, Montgomery and Dothan, but the current MSN manual, the MSN page and the accreditation page stop at three campuses. Ask your program coordinator which campus your advisor works from.
Which Troy campus handles graduate nursing admissions?
Montgomery. Graduate nursing admissions and registration help run through the School of Nursing's Office of Admissions on that campus, where the Director of Nursing Admissions and Records is also listed. Once you are admitted, your MSN advisor is matched to your track and your closest campus.
Do Troy DNP students travel for the final presentation?
Not for the presentation itself. Troy's DNP manual runs the Final Competency Evaluation over distance technology. The in-person occasion it names is convocation, held on the Troy campus for all DNP graduates. Along the way you also submit an abstract to a national conference and prepare a manuscript.
