These terms apply when you use this site or ask Troy Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your Troy program's own requirements.

The service
Troy Preceptor is an independent placement service for Troy University nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical settings that fit a student's Troy course, prepare the preceptor details the student submits to Troy (including what the Preceptor Information Form and Preceptor Biosketch ask for), and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Troy University does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official Troy statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Troy Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
Troy's role and final approval
Troy faculty approve every preceptor and clinical setting, the School of Nursing sends and holds the preceptor and agency agreements, and faculty clear you before any clinical hours count. Troy's orientation manuals, syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from Troy's current requirements, Troy's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and setting for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that Troy will approve a preceptor or setting we identify, that an agency agreement will be signed by a particular date, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and agencies make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after Troy's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting Troy's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- completing Troy's clinical requirements in ViewPoint Screening and keeping every item current;
- holding an unencumbered RN license in the state where your clinical hours take place;
- completing background checks, drug screens, immunizations and any agency requirements before patient contact;
- submitting the Preceptor Information Form and related documents by Troy's deadline and starting hours only after faculty clear you;
- staying in contact with your faculty advisor, course faculty and the School of Nursing;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical agency or other third party, and Troy's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. Troy places the cost of background checks, drug tests, course resources and clinical travel on the student.

Our guides summarize Troy's public orientation manuals, program pages, degree maps and state authorization pages as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and Troy's rules can change. Check your manual, your faculty advisor and the School of Nursing before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Troy Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of Troy, a preceptor or a clinical agency, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.

Troy asks you to recruit your preceptor. We make that the easy part.
Tell us your Troy program, where you live and which semester your next clinical course starts. We find preceptors who meet Troy's rules for the course, check the setting against Troy's limits, and prepare everything the Preceptor Information Form and biosketch ask for, well ahead of the form deadline.
